Junior Green
The Junior Green program is designed for beginner curlers. This program is broken into two blocks. The first half it will consist of providing basic lessons on delivery, sweeping, turns, alignment, shots, positions, and basic game play, along with many other key points in learning to curl.
In the second half, we continue to develop the skills learned in the first part of the year with new drills and activities but turn our concentration to basic strategy/alignment and shots.
By the end of the 13 weeks the curler will be able to demonstrate the following:
Proper setup position. Ready, Set, Go delivery with handshake release, full slider, with and without rock. The sliding foot should be underneath the body with the hack foot trailing straight behind. Upright sweeping with no slider on a draw weight and takeout weight rock Ability to throw and distinguish different shots (guard, draw, hit) Able to throw an in-turn and out-turn, and able to identify shot called by skip’s signal. Basic shot calling with and without hammer Determine and properly post and score. The program runs Sundays from 1pm-230pm
All players of all ages must be signed up for the membership for both the Centre as well as Curling Alberta and Canada($23) These fees are due once per year per person
